Parole Packet FAQs
Is a parole packet necessary?
What is a Parole Presentation Packet or Package?
A parole presentation packet or package is a collection of documents and materials that allows the inmate and their loved ones to communicate on behalf of the inmate to the parole board about why the incarcerated individual is worthy of being released on parole and the support system that they have created to prevent recidivism.
Every parole package guided and prepared by McKMoore & Associates is customized based on the level of offense, the family’s level of support and the client's specific and distinctive strengths.
Typically a standard parole packet will include:

-
Cover page
-
A letter from you
-
Letters from friends and family to indicate a support system
-
Background information that portrays good behavior (Awards and Certificates)
-

The McKMoore Executive parole presentation packet is different because it includes:

-
Your specific voting panel
-
Voting Statistics
-
Assessments
-
A proactive prevention plan
-
A family support plan
-
And much more!

We don’t just provide a parole packet template that is passed around in forums and online, we present a customized strategic plan on behalf of our client that allows board members to see that you are serious about your release and determined not to come back.
Parole boards do not require individuals to submit a parole packet. In fact, they don’t require that you do anything other than serve a certain length of time and be in a certain classification category, before you are considered you for parole.

The Board can and will make its decision with or without your input. However, the Board is comprised of Texas citizens who look favorably on you to taking an active part in the process. After all, they are considering whether they should let you go out into society and be their neighbors. So, our recommendation is that if you truly want to do everything you can to give the Board a reason to let you go, then you should have a parole packet prepared.
I want me or my loved one to have the best chance at parole, so shouldn’t I hire a parole attorney?
You can, and many families do just that. But attorneys cost at least $1300 or more and most families that are currently supporting their loved one are already spending money on care packages, Ecomm cards, prison fans, jPay stamps and Honey Buns in the visitation room.

The average parole attorney charges to prepare a packet and ATTEMPTS to get in to see a Board member before their votes are cast but their chances are no different than if your loved one requested an interview with a voting parole board member. In addition, there is no evidence that shows that a parole lawyer will increase your chances of being granted parole.

Please note: If you and your family decide to hire an attorney the Board is NOT required to give an interview to anyone other than the victim(s) of the crime you were convicted of.

There are situations in which a parole attorney is recommended. If an inmate has multiple free world cases in their file or if they have labels in their files that are not factual and could mislead the parole review committee, a parole attorney is recommended.
Can’t I just do a parole packet on my own?
Yes, you can! However, please note that a parole packet is more than a template that you download from a forum and fill out or put together. Are you able to put together a strategic plan? Are you familiar with department of corrections recommended treatment plans? Do you or your loved one have the time to collect and organize all the paperwork? Most people and even lawyers don’t think about those things as a necessity to a packet, but they are. The goal of a parole packet is not to only show why the inmate should be released but it is also an opportunity to display the support system at home. These are some of the reasons why we recommend that you utilize our service. Allow us to assist you in creating a presentation of rehabilitation and community backing with a clear picture.
